Sudan to hand over ex-President Omar al-Bashir to the International Criminal Court (ICC).

Former President Omar al-Bashir faces charges of genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity, over the civil war that broke out in Darfur in 2003.

He came to power in a military coup in 1989 and carried out decades of tyranny.

He was overthrown in April 2019 amidst a popular and peaceful street revolution that demanded an end to corruption and impunity.
